Money Making: A Series of Side Quests

Before you leave Outset, you'll need some cash. Here's some options:

1- There's a path between your house and Orca's that leads to a house on the hill. Go up it and it leads you to a fat woman in a stable, kinda. Talk to her and she'll tell you she wants pigs. There are three pigs on this island, and she'll give you twenty rupees for each one.
First of all, there's a pale one on the path you just walked on.  Walk up to it, and be careful not to get too close. Hold down R and move forward. Crawl until you are close to it, then let go of R and quickly press A. You should now have the pig. If not, try again. Run with it, being careful not to hit anything, toss it in the pen and talk to the woman.

$
Cha-ching.
The second pig is further down the path, in the field by Orca's house. If you talk to the guy he'll tell you how to catch a pig, but you already know that. A little farther up is a completly black pig. Catch it the same way and bring it to the same woman, who will give you another red rupee.

The third and final one is across that center bridge, between the house and the wall of rock. Catch it and bring it to the woman for a grand total of sixty rupees.

2. This one is if you hadn't done the jumping challenge. If so, skip to #3, but if not go to the center bridge. There is a kid there who will ask you to jump on the rocks for the rupees on them. If you do, it's 15 rupees. No exactly a hard challenge.

3. This will require you to have 30 rupees beforehand, so use the previous steps to help you. Next to the dock there is an immobile ship. Swim up to it and enter.

There, Beetle will have several objects for you to buy. One is a pig-looking thing, which you need, so get it. The other thing you need is the pear one.

Once you have those, walk outside. Go to the start menu and select the Bait Bag. Open it and select the pear with X, Y, or Z. Exit the menu and hit whatever button you selected to it.

(If for some reason a bird won't take it, go to other places and try. At the very latest, go to the watchtowe to get the bird.)

One of the birds will fly up and eat the pear. But, you have control over it. (DON'T hit Start. That'll just cancel it.) There are several places to get rupees with the bird, which explains why I had you pay 30 rupees in the first place. The first, and maybe hardest to get, rupee location is at the top of the watchtower. You need to flap and a certain time to crest at the right moment.

The second is along the path you took to the top of the mountain. (On the wall next to it.) I mean, on top of the wall. This one is tricky too. You'll need to guide the bird because its beak will be shoved into the dirt, but it'll still fly.

Finally, there's a few blue and green rupees on rooftops on various houses on the island.

(The whole reason I made you do this was because you'll need the Bait Bag, the Hoi Pear and the Bait later on.)

4. (PLEASE DON'T DO THIS!!!) This isn't necessary in any way right now. There is an orange rupee, a.k.a. 100 rupees, under Grandma's house. But, it's wasteful to get it because your wallet should max out somewhere in the second dungeon. Please, you'll need the money for later.

(While I'm on the topic of wallets, there are two upgrades. The first is after you get the third pearl (later) that maxes your wallet from 200 to 1000. The last one is right before the third dungeon, and that will max out your wallet from 1000 to 5000. Don't worry, I'll tell you how to get them when we get to that point.)

If you must get it, there is a hole under Grandma's porch you can crawl under. It'll lead to a cave that has the orange rupee in the chest.

When you got all the money you want, talk to Tetra and she'll ask you if you're sure you want to leave. If you're ready, say yes. Then a cutscene will play where the townsfolk will wave goodbye, and so will your Grandma from her porch.

Tetra will say something to you, then the cutscene is over and you're now on a pirate ship.

(END)

There, that's enough for one day. See ya next time.

Part 2, Technically: Sword through Ship

Let's start this. :

We left off last time in Orca's house. He's the tall, thin old guy standing in the corner with the staff. He's Orca, swordsmaster extraordinaire. Go up and talk to him. He'll make you fight him for a sword (like usual).
Follow his instructions. Warning: When rushing up to him to use the B attack, be sure to let go of the gray control stick (GCS) before hitting B, 'cuz he'll yell at you for that and hit you. Pretty unfair if you ask me, but oh well.

Now that you have the sword, exit his house.
Go back to the path and cross the bridge again. If you haven't already done this, continue the path and go to the right once it separates. Run up it 'till you hit the treeline, then use your new-found sword skills to slash the trees apart.

Even though rupees should be found in grass, this one doesn't, so there's almost no point to cutting it. If you follow the path, to the left is the bridge across. The sign warns you about the broken wood in the middle of it. Run across into the dark doorway to the woods.

*Small cutscene*

Go to your right and hig the wall until you find the ramp. Leap into the clearing. There is a big tree trunk on the ground that has a red rupee in it. Run to the closest edge and crawl into it. When you're crawling in it the screen will show you a Creeper (Name later) that is standing guard to the cut trunk. Once you get the rupee, you could either use the stones to attack it (not advised- it takes forever), wait until he falls asleep then charge it, or just charge it.

Attack it any way you like. Once you're done, jump on the trunk to the platform. There is a huge rock, but that's for later. Walk up the trunk to the clearing. There, you'll get jumped by two of those things. Once you defeat them, Tetra will wake up and fall from the branch.
Tetra's loveable sidekick Gonzo wil show up, sounding worried for her. Eventually those two will run out of the forest, and your character will follow them.

*Sad cutscene*

Poor Aryll.

Anyway, a speaking cutscene shows up where the Rito helps you get passage on Tetra's ship.
She'll make you get a shield before you can board.

So, go inside Grandma's house and climb up the ladder. It's gone! So jump down and your character will turn to the room and a cutscene will play.

Once Grandma gives you the shield, sad music will play and she'll start crying.

Leave the house.

(END)

Before you talk to Tetra, though, read the next post I'll do. It's about making some money before you leave.

Sorry, I Just Can't

I realized there is no way I'm going to be able to do this walkthrough if I have to write the dialogue. So, from now on, I won't. Sorry to break my promise, but I really want to get this done. If I have to write the dialogue, I'll never work on it.

Expect a post later tonight.

(Besides, you can just read it on the screen anyway...)

Oops.

Jeez, it's already been a week?! Wow, I'm sorry. I have some homework tonight, but I'll try later this weekend. Again, sorry. Homework sucks.

The BEGINNING: Intro through Orca

Alrighty then. Let's get started with this thing.

Opening Video:::::

"This is but one of the legends of which the people speak...
Long ago, there existed a kingdom where a golden power lay hidden.
It was a prosperous land blessed with green forests, tall mountains, and peace.
But one day a man of great evil found the golden power and took it for himself.....
With its strength at his command, he spread darkness across the kingdom.
But then, when all hope had died, and the hour of doom seemed at hand....
...a young boy clothed in green appeared as if from nowhere.
Wielding the blade of evil's bane, he sealed the dark one away and gave the land light.
This boy, who traveled throught time to save the land, was known as the Hero of Time.
The boy's tale was passed down through generations until it became legend....

But then... a day came when a fell wind began to blow across the kingdom.
The great evil that all thought had been forever sealed away by the hero.....
...once again crept forth from the depths of the earth, eager to resume its dark designs.
The people believed that the Hero of Time would again come to save them.
...But the hero did not appear.
Faced by an onslaught of evil, the people could do nothing but appeal to the gods.
In their last hour, as doom drew nigh, they left their future in the hands of fate.

What became of that kingdom.....? None remain who know.

The memory of the kingdom vanished, but its legend survived on the wind's breath.
On a certain island, it became customary to garb boys in green when they came of age.
Clothed in the green of fields, they aspired to find heroic blades and cast down evil.
The elders wished only for the youths to know courage like the hero of legend...."

From that, the screen goes to black.

It pops up later to a pan of Outset Island, where you were born. A little girl (Aryll) is standing in front of a house and yells, "Big brother!" She runs around and screams, "BIG BROTHER!!!" again. *continues to run* Suddenly we see you sleeping in a watchtower, and Aryll says, "Big brother," for the millionth time. You get up and Aryll is suddenly, creepily behind you. Saying, "I knew you'd be here!"

Aryll: "Hee hee hee! This is my FAVORITE spot to gaze out at the sea. When I play with the gulls, I call it 'Aryll's Lookout.' So, do you remember what day it is today? ...You're still half-asleep, aren't you? Did you forget? Big Brother, it's your birthday!"
You: *Surprised look.*
Aryll: "That's why Grandma has been waiting for you to come back to the house! She's been waiting for a while now... It's a good thing I came to find you! You should probably go home and see what Grandma wants, don't you think?"

Ah, now some action!
First of all, you can't jump onto the railing and leap into the sea, which would take up much less time. You have to run to the ladder using the Control Stick (big gray one) and moving it down. Actually, nevermind. I'm not going to teach you the fundamentals of GameCube controllers. Anyway,  now you're on the ladder, and if you want to, you can hit A to 'Let Go' and make this slightly faster. You won't get hurt.
Now there's a bridge you can cross, but it isn't necessary for now, so just jump off your left side of the wood thing you're standing on into the water. Swim straight forward to the beach. If you get lost or can't make it there on time, the white ball on the bottom corner is how much breath you have. Once it runs out you "die" and lose a quarter heart. There's a ladder on the wood thing.
Once you get there, don't chase the crabs. If you just did, now you know why it's pointless. You remember the house Aryll left? If you don't, it's the second house you can currently see, the farthest away from you. Run to it. If you get caught by the old man, just do what he says. He teaches you Lock-On.
Once you get to the house, run up the ramp and stand in front of the door and hit A.
Now you're in 'your' house, but you really don't spend much time in here in the game. You can look around if you want, but otherwise just run up to the ladder right in front of you and start climbing. There's Grandma! Walk up to her and a video will start. Note, it changes whether or not you've completed the game before. Assuming you haven't because otherwise you wouldn't need a walkthrough, and it really isn't different anyway, she starts talking.

Grandma: I've been waiting for you, (whatever name you chose. Mine was PyrVilin, so that's what i'll use). PyrVilin.... Try these on." *Pause.* "Time certainly flies.... I can't believe you're already old enough to wear these clothes." *Hands you green clothes.*

You raise the clothes in the air, looking disgustedly at them. The description says: "You got the Hero's Clothes! They look like they might be a little warm for this weather."

You turn back to Grandma, holding the clothes.

Grandma: "Don't look so disappointed, dear one! Just try them on. Today is a day to celebrate! It is the day that you become the same age as the young hero spoken of in all the legends. You only have to wear them for one day, so don't look so down. Be proud, child!"

The camera looks at Grandma only, apparently trying to indicate you are changing in front of your grandmother.

Creepy.

Anyway, she says, "In the olden days, this was the day boys were finally considered to be men. They were taught the ways of the sword to prepare them for battle with their enemies. But we don't live in such an age any longer..... Our ways are the ways of peace. Nowadays, I suppose Orca is the only one on the island who still knows anything about swordplay."

*Camera shifts to a shield hanging on the wall behind her.*

Grandma: "Hanging the family shield on the wall as decoration is another tradition that has been carried down from those days."

Now you are dressed in the clothes. She says, "Does this all make sense to you?"

You bob your head.

Grandma: "Isn't that nice, PyrVilin? They suit you perfectly! A perfect fit! Well, tonight I'm going to invite the whole town over for your birthday party, so I'd better start getting ready, shouldn't I? Your grandma is going to make your favorite soup for you tonight! Mmmm! I just know you're looking forward to it! Now, go get your sister, Aryll."

Action again. Turn the camera again (yellow control stick) to jump from the ledge and run to the door and leave.
Here's where you could run back to the watchtower, but for the uber-beginners I want to point out a nice little place for quick info. You know the house you ran by to get to this one? On the side of it there should be a ladder leading to a second floor. Climb it and enter Bald Einstein's house. He has all these papers on the wall. Once you get past his little chat/tantrum, you can read them for advice.

BE: "So soon? My, my, my.... If you're already old enough to be wearing those clothes... Then it's going to be very important for you to gather as much wisdom as you can from now on! If you're to make your way in the world, that is, PyraVilin! Now, I've been studying a wealth of topics since long before you were born. I'm what you'd call a brain-of-all-trades! You're a smart little fellow yourself, aren;t you? I've been thinking it's time for me to pass some of my wisdom down, and maybe you're the one I should pass it down to.... Everything that you see tacked to the walls here is something that I've researched thoroughly. And before you ask, yes, I do know my filinf system is odd. Organizational issues aside, however, it's all extremely useful information. You would do well to read it all very carefully. Reading leads to knowing, you know!"

*A loud thunk, then a bang as BE's shelves callapse, knocking his potts down with a crash.* BE's forehead gets all read, steam is coming from his head and he says, "Such a racket! Can't you keep quiet!? You've knocked everything off my shelves, you dratted hooligan!" BE pants, then calms down.

BE: "Honestly! The hooligan I'm referring to is my younger and much less intelligent brother, who lives just downstairs.... He hates studying.  All day, every day, the lout just exercises and practices with his weapons. Does he excercise his brain? No? The brain's a muscle too! .... I think. Anyway, the only thing he DOES study is the art of fighting. Right now, for instance, he's been studying fencing and whatnot. As if that's of any use to anyone.... He simply doesn't know how to do anything besides exercise. I ask you, what's a brother to do?"

Thank GOD now he finally lets you go. Jeez.

If you get done reading, just run to the door and leave. Now, jump or climb off and run to the path. Go on it to the bridge. There, if you want 15 rupees, just run off each edge to land on the rocks. Jump back. The little kid there, after, says, "Wow... I hope I'll be able to jump like you some day, PyrVilin..."

Leave and continue off the bridge. Continue following the path. Ignore the Snot Kid. Run back to the watchtower ladder and climb up.

*Mini video clip.*

Aryll: "Ah! 'Hoy, Big Brother! Did Grandma make that outfit for you? But wow... You look like you'd be way too hot in those clothes..... I guess they're pretty neat, though! So, anyway, PyrVilin... Can you close youe eyes and hold out your hand? Just for a second! I'm going to give you my most treasured belonging... but just for one day! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!" *Hands you something.*

It's a telelscope! Its description says, "You got a Telescope! This is your sister's most precious belonging. Treasure it dearly! Set it to Y, Z, or X and use it by pressing whatever button you set it to. Do it now, and see what you can see!"

Aryll: "So? Well? Do you like it? I'm letting you borrow this special gift just because you're my big brother! Aren't you lucky?! Hee hee hee! Ooh, why don't you try it out! Right now! Try looking over at our house from here!"

Run to the ledge and hit Start. Move the cursor to the telescope and hit X, Y, or Z. Hit Start again to get out. Press that button. Straight ahead of you, almost, is the red mailbox. Move the yellow control stick forward, and most the gray control stick too to move it until you're close. Now a video will start.

Aryll, during this is saying, "Hey what's that? PyrVilin! Are you looking at the red postbox?" Or, "Big Brother! Are you using the yellow control stick to zoom in? 'Cause you should be!"

Once the video starts, the mailbird/man will start flipping out. Aryll says, "The postman looks kinda weird, doesn't he?" Then she'll freak out and say, "AAAAAHH! PyrVilin! The sky! Look up at the sky!"

Move the gray control stick down fast. Then the real video will start.

A bird is basically carrying a girl, and both are being chased by a pirate ship. The pirate ship's cannon will hit the bird, causing it to drop the girl in the forest.

Once that's done, Aryll will turn to you and say, "PyrVilin, this is so terrible! That girl fell into the forest! She needs help! ... But it's too dangerous for you to go in there without something you can use to defend yourself with!"

Not for long.
Go back down the ladder and cross that stretch of water. That first house where you could've talked to the BE, enter the first door. There's Orca.

This is where we'll leave it off for today. I'll post something tomorrow or the next day. Good luck.

The Introduction-

Welcome, TLZ fans. For me, TLZ means The Legend of Zelda; it's not a misspelling of TLC. I'm not sure if TLZ is the "right" acronym, but oh well.

There are mainly two reasons why I started this blog; One, I wanted to off my creepy Wind Waker skills, and two, putting a guide on YouTube is too expensive for my nonexistant paycheck. I have to buy recording equipment and a whole bunch of other stuff.

Side Note (SN): To set this guide apart from all the others, I'll include the dialogue between the characters. That's going to be fun...... If I screw up a line too badly, let me know so I have a 50/50 percent chance of correcting it, as long as you're not too annoying about it.

P.S. I'm a beginner, so be gentle, please.
